This photo may be a little self-referential. But it is very important to me for their lot.
This photo was taken in December 2014 by a fellow career named Felipe Castro, better known as "El choclo" in "Thelonius" bar located in Santiago within the Bellavista neighborhood.
In
this picture you can see a part of the big band of the University of
Chile in which he participated as a pianist and arranger. This orchestra was born the same year and is led by Professor Carl Hammond.
This photo is very important in manny ways to me. My study in music has been classical school, but apart from this,
is also my passion for popular music
and particularly in this case jazz.
When I began studying music it was right through the contrabass, with which to participate in child Concepción Orchestra. When I came to study in Santiago had to leave the orchestra and me away from that way of making music. The big band came into my life at a time when I needed and missed this way of making music.Another reason why I like this picture because it is the first time we played with the big band. It is also the first jazz orchestra that has existed in the music faculty of our university. (All who participated in this concert will be part of the history).Another reason was that at that concert premiered a work of mine. The first time I played in Thelonius and premiering a work for big band.
I like this photo because it is the beginning of something new, a new learning a new language and another form of seeing and feeling the music.

A photograph that tells a great story, especially for you cause it's reated to your career :)
